I had the pleasure of checking out the Caymus Winery in Napa Valley. It is located in Rutherford, CA and is set in between vineyards with a view of the mountains. They are currently open for outdoor tastings, and it is fairly easy to call and get an appointment.
It is $50 for a tasting per person, which is not bad, but they give it to you a store credit if you buy a wine bottle from their vineyard over $50 (which is not a bad deal at all). If you are a Napa Native, you are able to take part in the Napa Neighbors program and your tasting will be complimentary.
I got to try 6 wines while I was there. 5 wines was party of the flight provided during the wine tour, and 1 was the sparkling rose that I got to try extra. The wine included in the flight were:
Mer Soleil 2018 Chardonnay Reserve
Mer Soleil 2017 Pinot Noir Reserve
Emmolo 2018 Merlot
Caymus 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon
Caymus 2016 Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
I ended up getting a few bottles of wine while I was there, my two favorites the Caymus 2018 Zinfandel and the Conundrum 2017 Sparkling Rose.The Zinfandel wine is only available for purchase at their winery.
It was such a great experience as I got to learn about how their wines are made and where they grow the grapes for each of their wines based off of climate. The person conducting our tasting was very knowledgeable about all of their products and was able to explain if I had any questions.
This winery has kept precautions to make sure everyone is social distancing during this time. There are arrows so that people do not walk into each other, and each party has a different seating area around the vineyard. You are also required to wear a mask at all times while walking around, and you are able to take it off when you are in your designated seating area.
It was such an amazing experience, I definitely recommend adding this winery to your list when you visit Napa Valley.
