Building your luxury collection can be exciting and stressful at the same time. If you are like me, trying to stay in budget, you often have to weigh out which items against each other and chose which product would be a better investment. It is hard to figure out which items are worth more than others, so today I will be sharing some tips I've personally used in the past when luxury shopping.
1. What Items Are You Most Fond Of?
The first thing that should come to mind is if you would really use the particular product you are looking at or wear it once and have it collect dust in your closet. It is important to see your collection as investing money into quality items which will last you a while as long as you take care of it. Personally, I am quite fond of accessories, jewelry and small leather goods (SLG), so that is usually the first thing I end up looking at when I shop.
2. Is It Limited Edition?
If it is an item that is limited edition, jump on it. But, it is important to also be sure it will be something you can use. It is always great getting a piece that is different and is not available in large quantities. Limited edition pieces give you a better opportunity to sell your item for what it was actually worth because of how hard it may have been to get.
3. Is It A Classic Or A Trend?
This point is important to consider because it helps weigh out your options. If you are looking to invest in a piece and use it for a long time, a classic piece is always the way to go. Trendy pieces are always great, but it is important to remember that you do want to get something you can get your wear out of as well. Getting timeless pieces that go with everything are easily your safest bets.
4. Do You Have Something Similar?
I would say this in terms of color more than in terms of a style of something. Like you can have the same style of purse in a different color, but to have multiple of the same color in a similar style. If you feel it will be repetitive in your collection, it may not be the best addition to it. Invest in an array of colors and styles, so it helps break up your closet and add variety.
5. Are You On The Fence?
If you are debating something or on the fence about something, most likely you shouldn't get it. When you are looking to buy something, it should feel right from the start and should not be something you are talking yourself into liking or settling for something you are not sure about.
Growing your collection and making sure you have pieces you will love and use all the time is important. Want to shop luxury without breaking the bank? Check out my post "5 Ways To Shop Luxury CHEAP". Link: https://www.atouchoflipstick.com/post/5-ways-to-shop-luxury-cheap
